Unity Part Of The Presidential Campaign Process
I've noticed that Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been putting on a convincing show of personal amity, but have to wonder how difficult it is for her. Hilary Clinton and Obama met at their first joint campaign rally in the New Hampshire town of Unity last Friday. Both spoke passionately and convincingly of their wish for unity and to end Republican rule for the good of the nation. I watched these two and have to wonder how good they are at acting. When it was Clinton vs Obama, the presidential campaign issues were clear and diverse. Now, politics as usual finds them best buddies... I don't think so. This show of unity is apparently just another politically savvy move in the presidential campaign process.
William Gaston, a former Bill Clinton adviser, is quoted saying, "I don't see any divergence of interests. She needs to do everything she can to get Senator Obama elected president, and be seen doing everything she can. I think it's in Senator Obama's interest to have Senator Clinton campaign regularly and enthusiastically for him. It's also in her interest to do that", explaining that Clinton's own future in the party is at stake.
